Dozier’s BBQ announces Pitmaster Party: Wild Game Edition benefiting Fulshear Police Foundation on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021

Pitmaster Jim Buchanan to host event with all-star cast of Texas BBQ pitmasters

HOUSTON (Aug. 10, 2021) -- Historic Dozier’s BBQ in Fulshear will host a Pitmaster Party: Wild Game Edition on Saturday, Oct. 9, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The outdoor event will feature top pitmasters from the Houston area and beyond, benefiting the Fulshear Police Foundation. Tickets are available online through the Fulshear Police Foundation.

Dozier’s pitmaster Jim Buchanan is rounding up some of his close friends in the industry for what should be an unforgettable BBQ event. The lineup includes Buchanan, Anthony McDonald of Dozier’s and guest cook Robert Lerma; Patrick Feges of Feges BBQ (Houston); Quy Hoang of Blood Bros. Barbecue (Bellaire); Russell Roegels of Roegels Barbecue (Houston); John Brotherton of Brotherton’s Black Iron Barbecue (Pflugerville); Ara Malekian of Harlem Road BBQ (Richmond); Brett Jackson of Brett’s Barbecue Shop(Katy); and Scott Moore of Tejas Chocolate & Barbecue (Tomball).

Coinciding with the start of hunting season, the top pitmasters each will offer a dish featuring wild game meat. Dozier’s is home to one of the largest deer processing centers in Greater Houston. The Pitmaster Party also will feature live music fromDan and Kev on the Dozier’s deck.

“The pandemic has really shut down a lot of the cool events that the BBQ community in Houston has done over the past decade, and this is an opportunity for us to come together in a festival format,” Buchanan said. “It also gives people in the Fulshear community the opportunity to experience something new, something that I don’t think has ever been done out here, bringing in a bunch of BBQ guys to do something fun like wild game.”

Buchanan hosted a smaller pitmaster party last fall with Blake Stoker from Blake’s BBQ in Tennessee and Bryan Bingham of Sunbird Barbecue in Longview, Texas, an event that drew approximately 250 people. He also hosted Michael Wyont of Flores Tortillas, and Wesley Jurena of Pappa Charlies Barbecue for separate pop-ups at Dozier’s earlier this year.

Tickets for the Pitmaster Party: Wild Game Edition are $75, available online through the Fulshear Police Foundation. Entry includes samples from each of the participating barbecue outfits, along with live music entertainment. Beverages can be purchased separately.
